Spirituality in Business: 3 Ways You’re Missing Out

I know you’re thinking, “Joe why are we talking about this woo woo stuff?”.

I’m here to tell you that without spirituality, everything and I mean everything we do is without meaning and purpose. But let’s start with the basics.

What is Spirituality?

Spirituality is defined as a belief in something greater than ourselves or belief in a higher power.

I don’t know about you but I find life to be pretty overwhelming.

Whether it’s dealing with my recovery journey, launching a new business, navigating family challenges, or coping with a pandemic, I find myself looking to a higher power.

And sometimes I find myself on my knees praying for answers and support.

Having a higher power to look saved my life.

And it can save you too.

But even when we aren’t in dire need, spirituality is powerful.

As a business owner, I find my miracles and success come directly from my meditation mat or from my time down on my knees…where I surrender and pray.

Many of my clients feel like they’ve hit a wall. Like everything they’ve tried has failed.

And they have no idea what to do next.

This is when I invite them to turn to spirituality.

So how might you be missing out as a business leader without spirituality? And what does that look like in practice?

Building a Business with Heart & Soul

These days we don’t lack information or solutions. There are hundreds of services and solutions to most problems.

So how can we stand out?

What makes you unique?

When you are clear on what your spiritual calling in life is, it’s easy to magnify that to your clients.

For example, I know that I am called to help business leaders heal and amplify their lives and thus their impact. This has a ripple effect in communities. In turn, that transforms families.

That’s powerful. That’s exciting!

That’s what gets me up from bed every single morning.

It sets my soul and heart on fire. I get fired up even as I’m writing this.

But without deep reflection and time in prayer, I would never have discovered this calling. I would have missed the magic.

You see, miracles stem from people who are prayerfully aligned in action. People who are willing to stay the course.

When you uncover your calling and create a business around it, that’s powerful.

That’s something people want to get behind.

People buy from people. They invest in solutions that they can trust.

They connect with stories.

And when we are soulfully aligned to our calling, it helps us share our story in a way that’s profound and magnetic.

It attracts the right people to us.

If you’re building your business without heart and soul, your prospective clients can see and feel this….even if they aren’t spiritual.

Without heart and soul, you won’t exude confidence, passion, and belief in your clients.

I challenge you today. Stop, reflect, and discover what your spiritual calling is.

And then ask yourself, am I building the right business with the right people?

If not, what action will you take today to begin shifting that?

Legacy and Purpose Driven Businesses Thrive!

Taking your spiritual calling to an even deeper level, we can look at legacy and purpose.

Once you discover your spiritual gifts, ask yourself what is the legacy I want to leave behind?

Pray on it. Meditate. Receive wisdom from your soul.

If your spiritual gift is to help dads be powerful community leaders, perhaps your legacy is to impact 1,000 fathers and families by helping them build and live their legacy.

If you are still feeling a bit lost, here are some questions for reflection:

When you die, what do you want to be remembered for?
What do you want your children to say about your life?
What impact do you want to leave on your community, family and the world?
What big long-term goal tied to your spiritual gift would keep you inspired for the rest of your life (even on the tough days)?

Sometimes we can struggle to uncover our own gifts.

Consider asking your loved ones, mentors, and friends for their feedback. Sometimes we need a third party to help us see what’s clear to everyone else.
